We are now available on iBooks!
In 2012, we published the print book Point-of-Care Ultrasound for Emergency Physicians, combining the course manuals of The EDE course and The EDE 2 Course.
Since then, we’ve received numerous requests for an e-book version, so due to popular demand, we have done just that.
The e-book is NOW available on the iBooks Store!
Retitled Essentials of Point-of-Care Ultrasound, it contains the same comprehensive information of the print version PLUS much more.

Book summary
The most distinctive aspect of The EDE Courses has been the focus on image generation. When emergency physicians first began investigating the possibility of using ultrasound themselves, a big secret was concealed from them: image interpretation is easy. The real challenge is image generation: putting the image on the screen. Before The EDE Courses, physicians learned image generation mostly by trial and error. EDE brought a rigorous methodology to the scanning of each area of the body, dramatically reducing the time needed to master this new skill. The book contains over 700 illustrations, photos, and ultrasound images which show you how to perform the scan and how to recognize positive and negatives images. As well, the book focuses on how you can incorporate these images into your clinical decision-making.
How is the e-book different from the print version?
The e-book adds additional functionality, including:
~ Quizzes
~ Reference hyperlinks to pub med
~ Links to EDE blog content
~ An interactive glossary
~ Chapter summaries
~ Study cards
~ Reader-defined notes

Hi.
My name is Ader joseph,PGYII, internal medicine resident at palmetto General hospital. I missed the deadline to download the version book on iTunes, can you please give me access to download it? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Ader,
Thanks for your interest in the book. The eBook will be free again later this week, Oct 9-12. Go ahead and snag yourself a copy. Remember to go on iBooks and not iTunes.
Steve
Hello,
When you run the EDE course, what do you do about people who do not have an Apple product? Is the eBook available in any other format for digital (ie. purchasing a pdf)? I am helping to run a course and this text is required and I’d like to find out if we can provide alternate ebook options for those without iBooks.
Thank you for your help!
Kathryn
Hi Kathryn,
Thanks for your interest in the book. We are working on other eBook options and will update everyone once available. The print book is the other option right now. It’s available from http://www.ede2course.com.

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your response. Question about shipping for the print book: do you know how long it generally takes for books to be shipped to areas of British Columbia, particularly rural & remote regions?
Thank you for your help!
Kathryn
Hi Kathryn,
Usually about one week. Maximum 2 weeks. Remote areas are tougher. Did you have anything specific in mind?
Steve
Just want to confirm this book will work on my MacBook Pro?
Hi Pam,
Yes it does work on MacBooks with a current OS capable of running iBooks. There are some minor features that work differently on the iPad touchscreen compared to the MacBook. You can see all content including video clips and graphics on MacBooks.
Greg
Thanks for great book. When will it be free download again?
Hi Saqib,
At this point, no plans to make the e-book on the iBook Store free again. But we will always keep the cost low. We are working on updates and added content for both the print book and e-book which we are aiming to release this fall. We are also working on a version of the e-book for Android and Windows devices. That’s been more of a challenge… the industry is very much in flux. But we won’t give up! Whenever we do create an e-book option for Android/Windows, we will make that version a free download soon after it makes its debut.
